MT. KAILASH
The King of Mountains
Mt. Kailash has always been the king of the mountains recognized by Hinduism, Buddhism, Bonism and Jainism.
It is located in Pulan County, Tibet. As the main peak of the Mt.Kailash, the summit has an elevation of 6656 meters.
The four great rivers flowed from the Mt.Kailash in four directions including Maquan River, Shiquan River, Xiangquan River and Kongqi River.
These rivers flow in four directions and eventually merge into the Indian Ocean.
Mt. Kailash water feeds to Manasarovar. Rivers from Mt. Kailash become Ganga River and supplies majority water to Asia (BBC Documentary).
The Center of the World
Hinduism calls the mountain Kailash and believes it to be the center of the world. Among the three main gods in Hinduism, God Shiva, the most powerful and highest-status god, is said to lives here with his wife, goddess Parvati.
The mountain is close to Manasarovar lake. Manasarovar lake is also a Hindu sacred site. According to Hindu lore, this lake was created from the heart of the creator God Brahma.
Kailash-Lake Manasarovar region is the source of many rivers and is the upper reaches of the Indus, Brahmaputra. So many believers make a pilgrimage to do Kailash Manasarovar yatra every year.
